Install the Onlay CLI
The Onlay command-line tool publishes HTML and Markdown files as shareable pages. Readers can comment and, when editing is enabled, change the text. Your agent can retrieve that feedback and update the file. One command installs it; the same command updates it.
macOS and Linux
curl -fsSL https://get.onlay.io/install.sh | sh
Windows
irm https://get.onlay.io/install.ps1 | iex
Either one downloads the binary for this machine, verifies its checksum,
puts it on PATH, runs onlay setup so the coding
agents it finds there (Claude Code, Codex, the ChatGPT app, Cursor, T3 Code)
can publish without being asked, and ends with
onlay login: the terminal shows a code, you approve it in the
browser, and the machine has a key.
After installation: sign in and publish
Signed in already, or on a machine with no browser? Sign in again with
onlay login, or paste a key from
app.onlay.io/keys:
onlay login --key <key>
Publish a file, and push it again to update the same link:
onlay push report.html # prints the URL; writes a label line into the file
onlay pull report.html # the edits and comments a reader left
onlay push report.html # a new version, same URL
A file that begins with an HTML comment reading
Published with Onlay as label … has already been published.
Pull it before you change it, and leave the comment where it is.
